Nursing Theory (2credits)
Course Description:
This course examines several nursing theories and their applications in practices, education, and research. Students will learn to recognize the nature of science, the body of knowledge in nursing, and its relationship to nursing theory. Through lecture and discussion, students will learn the background of each theorist, her/his philosophy, major concepts, and contribution to nursing profession.
Advanced Adult Nursing (I) (2credits)
Course description:
Recognize the physiological and pathological changes on selected health-related phenomena.
Use evidence-base literature to analyze the selected health-related phenomena.
Discuss current trends and findings of research related to health promotion and illness prevention in the selected health-related phenomena.
Discuss clinical application of research findings to the management of health care issues.
Understand clinical management and nursing interventions on selected health-related phenomena.
Increase critical thinking ability.
Advanced Gerotological / Community Nursing (I) (2credits)
Course description:
This course is designed to develop advanced professional nursing competencies with aging individuals. Physiological, psychological, social dimension are examined. Social relationships, work and leisure, social welfare, health promotion, living arrangements, and physical activity for older adult are addressed. Elderly depression, elderly falls, and elderly with cognitive impairment are discussed. Ethical issues and quality improvement in long-term care are examined. Discharge needs assessment, planning, and intervention are addressed. Research base for gerontological nursing management of selected aspects of normal aging will be examined. Focus is on application of and research to gerontological nursing practice.
Advanced Psychiatric Nursing (I) (2credits)
Course Description
The objectives of course are to assist students using a holistic viewpoint (physiological, psychological, social cultural, developmental and spiritual) and applying different theoretical knowledge and skills on human development, interpersonal relationship, communication, stress-adaptation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and group psychotherapy to assess the needs of the mentally ill patient and provide them three-level preventive care. This course will equip students to care the mentally ill patients with different age groups in illness management, the promotion of social function, and quality of life, and utilize the resources from related systems to maximize their health status.
Practicum of Pediatric Nursing Practicum (I) (3credits)
Course Description:
The purpose of the courses is to enhance graduate students’ ability to clinical care. The students would apply theories relevant to pediatric nursing to clinical situations. Particularly, students will be able to reflex their learning and the medical care model, they are expected to be an instructor or consultant of pediatric nurses.
Advanced Pediatric Nursing (I) (2credits)
Course Description:
Based on student’s previous knowledge of pediatric nursing, the fist semester curse for an advanced practice nurse of pediatrics is focused on theories that will be able to apply to pediatric client population in terms of from infants to adolescents and their families experiencing acute or chronic health problems. Therefore, the student will be able to connect the theories with clinical practice. After learning those theories, the students will be able to understand how human beings conceptualize their knowledge and concepts, how they develop their body image and what issues they encounter when their body image change, and how mother and child form their relationship and how they cope with the problems when the child experiences acute or chronic illness or disability. The students should be able to understand how to contribute their professional to improve the health of children and their families.
Health Assessment and Clinical Decision Making (3credits)
Course Description:
The course places its emphases on integrate health assessment skills within the practice of professional nursing as a clinical nurse specialist. Students are required to elicit a complete health history and perform a comprehensive physical examination using a holistic view based on a theoretical framework. Throughout the course, priority will be given to applying critical thinking skills for data analysis before making nursing diagnosis.
Family Nursing (2credits)
Course Description:
This course is designed to develop family nursing competencies. Families of persons with chronic illness, impacts on caregiver psychological health and physical health, health promotion for family caregiver, health care activities for families, forming life habits for families, environment and family, and family literacy are addressed.Family care for persons with cancer, stroke, mental illness, terminal illness, inherited disease, and dementia are examined. Family care for elders and patients who use complementary and alternative medicine are discussed. Issues related to family nursing are discussed. Research base for family nursing of selected aspects of clients will be examined. Focus is on application of and research to family nursing practice.
Adult Nurse Practitioner (I) and (II) (2credits)
Course Description:
These courses provide content on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of adults with acute and chronic conditions. Content centers on acute and chronic alterations in health using a case study approach in didactic and seminar format. Students will develop their critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in evaluating adult clients and will learn to use clinical practice guidelines within the scope of practice of the health care advanced practice nurse.
Nurse Practitioner Role Integration (2credits)
Course Description:
This course will assist the post graduate student to acquire advanced knowledge and skill in integrating the role of the advanced practice nurse into the healthcare system. The development of advanced practice internationally has taken different trajectories in an effort to meet the needs of the nation. Understanding the history of advanced practice in the framework of the existing healthcare systems will assist the student to develop the leadership skills necessary for the evolution of future nursing roles.
Advanced Pharmacology and Therapeutics(3credits)
Course Description:
1)pharmacodynamics including the mechanisms of action;
2)Pharmacokinetics such as absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion;
3)Interactions between drug - drug; drug - disease; and drug-food
4)Therapeutic levels of the medication including the therapeutic window;
5)How to write prescriptions;
6)Counseling patients;
7)Patient Data needed to optimize drug therapy;
8)Determining the appropriate pharmacologic agents for the management of the patient illness
9)Identify drug related illnesses and how to prevent these events
Advanced Pathophysiology (3credits)
Course Description:
1、To introduce students early in their studies the basic pathological processes that underlie all diseases。
2、To relate the disease processes to the clinical symptoms and signs that are manifest to the patients and are noted and interpreted by the clinician。
3、To provide sufficient factual detail about the common and important disease so that students are aware of the predisposing factors local and distant and the natural outcome in each case。
4、To indicate the relevant ways in each laboratory investigation
can establish the true nature of the illness and monitor its progress and response to therapy。
Advanced Community Health Nursing (Ⅱ) (2credits)
Course Description:
The course emphasis is on the application of community health nursing of the knowledge and skills in providing health care to target populations and communities. Design of program which meet the needs of target group for health promotion and disease prevention, appropriate use of community resources, strategies and evaluation. The goal of the process is to provide students with an organizing framework for community health program into clinical practice for understanding community nurse of roles and functions.
