Nursing Theory (3credits)
Course description:
This course examines several nursing theories and their applications in practices, education, administration, and research. Students will learn to recognize the nature of science, the body of knowledge in nursing, and its relationship to nursing theory. Through lecture and discussion, students will learn the background of each theorist, her/his philosophy, major concepts, and contribution to nursing profession.
 
Nursing Research (3credits)
Course description:
This course provides the students with the opportunity to study the research process (major steps) and methods. Major research steps include delimiting the problem, reviewing the related literature, defining the theoretical framework, formulating hypotheses, selecting a research design, identifying the population and sample, and measuring the research variables, etc. Research methods include quantitative research design, qualitative research design and integration of qualitative and quantitative designs. Emphasis is placed on writing a research proposal and on evaluating research reports.
 
Biostatistics (3credits)
Course description:
The main purpose of this course is for students to understand data collection, data classifying and arranging methods, utilize statistic methods to calculate, interpret, analyze and apply statistical results according to research purposes. The course content includes descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, experimental design, SPSS and statistical analysis. Through various research designs and practices, students shall obtain necessary statistics application knowledge.
 
Medical Laws and Special Topic of Nursing ethics (2credits)
Course description:
This course provides the students with the opportunity to study major
biomedical ethical theories, principles and rules, the code of nursing ethics, the decision making models for ethical diversity, and related medical laws in nursing practice.  Emphasis is placed on the application of these related medical laws, ethical theories, principles, and rules, the code of nursing ethics, and ethical decision-making models in nursing practice.
 
Advanced Health Assessment (2credits)
Course description:
This course is designed to describe advanced health assessment. Health assessment in cancer will be introduced. Neurological physical examination will be addressed. Comprehensive health history and critical thinking in health assessment will be examined. Health assessment in oncologic emergencies will be addressed.Issues related to advanced health assessment are discussed.
 
Special Lecture of Clinical Pathophysiology (2credits)
Course description:
This course is focus on the following:
To introduce students early in their studies the basic pathological processes that underlie all diseases。
To relate the disease processes to the clinical symptoms and signs that are manifest to the patients and are noted and interpreted by the clinician。
To provide sufficient factual detail about the common and important disease so that students are aware of the predisposing factors local and distant and the natural outcome in each case。
To indicate the relevant ways in each laboratory investigation
can establish the true nature of the illness and monitor its progress and response to therapy。
 
Special Lecture of Clinical Pharmacology (2credits)
Course description:
Through the general introduction, special lecture, and interactive small group discussion, the students will learn the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drugs of various types and organ systems and their mechanisms, as well as their clinical application and future development. It’s very important for students who intend to be a case manager (playing the cornerstone role in the future healthcare system) or pursue a career in the field of pharmaceutical Inc.
 
Advanced Clinical Nursing (I) (2credits)
Course description:
This course is the first of two required in the graduate level sequence in the clinical nursing major. This course is designed to develop advanced professional nursing competencies. Holistic nursing, quality of life, palliative nursing, social support, death and dying, spiritual care, ethical dilemma in patient care, family assessment and intervention, depression, and quality assurance are addressed. The experiences of memorable patient care and discharge needs assessment, planning, and intervention are examined. Issues related to advanced clinical nursing are discussed. Research base for advanced clinical nursing of selected aspects of clients will be examined. Focus is on application of and research to advanced clinical nursing practice.
Advanced Clinical Nursing Practicum (I) (2credits)
Course description:
The purpose of this practicum is to train students applying theories to clinical practice. Students are inspired by critical thinking and creative abilities. By applying scientific solving methods, students independently and deeply help to solve clients’ nursing problems in clinical settings.
 
Advanced Clinical Nursing (II) (2credits)
Course description:
This course is the second of two required in the graduate level sequence in the clinical nursing major. This course is designed to develop advanced professional nursing competencies. Developmental and psychological changes, and functional assessment of normal aging are examined. The dilemma of taking care of patients at the end of life stage is analyzed. The future of cancer nursing development is discussed. Treatment seeking behaviors and self care are addressed. Nursing and health management for CABG, arrhythmia, and chest trauma clients are examined. Issues related to advanced clinical nursing are discussed. Research base for advanced clinical nursing of selected aspects of clients will be examined. Focus is on application of and research to advanced clinical nursing practice.
 
Advanced Clinical Nursing Practicum(II)(2credits)
Course description:
The purpose of this practicum is to train students applying theories to clinical practice. Students are inspired by critical thinking and creative abilities. By applying scientific solving methods, students independently and deeply help to solve clients’ nursing problems in clinical settings.
 
Organization Development and Health promotion (2credits)
Course description:
This course contains two parts. One is to describe the importance of Organization Development (OD), and health care system as an example. Another part is health and health promotion. It contains health promotion development, theory and practical experiences in four setting. We except empowering these students can understand how to implement the strategies in practical to promote the development of community. Students aware its importance and can propose a practical project.
 
Health Policy and Analysis (2credits)
Course description:
The purpose of this course is to provide nursing graduate students with an overview of the health care policy process in Taiwan.  The process of a new policy includes: policy formulation, policy adoption, implementation, and evaluation.  Experts of health policy and policy makers will be invited to join the discussion with graduate students. Through this course, students will learn how health care policy has been made in Taiwan, what policies are more important to nursing professionals, and how to adjust to the changing health environment.
 
Advanced Community Health Nursing(I) (2credits)
Course description:              
The purpose of this course is to establish the foundation of community health nursing to foster their literacy and capability in practice, and to have the autonomy and critical thinking. Expected them will be an advanced community health practitioners. The curriculum contains the theory of community health nursing, community health assessment, community health building, and aggregates care. Finally, students have an oral presentation in community health nursing as an evaluation.
 
Advanced Community Health Nursing Practicum(I) (2credits)
Course description:
Practicum provides student opportunity to apply relative theories in community practice to further skills and to extend community expertise in aspects of nursing. The course emphasized on nursing professional, autonomy, and judgment for advanced community health nurse.
 
Advanced Community Health Nursing (Ⅱ) (2credits)
Course description:
The course emphasis is on the application of community health nursing / long-term care of the knowledge and skills in providing health care to target populations and communities. Design of program which meet the needs of target group for health promotion and disease prevention, appropriate use of community resources, strategies and evaluation.  The goal of the process is to provide students with an organizing framework for community health program into clinical practice for understanding community nurse of roles and functions.
 
Advanced Community Health Nursing Practicum (Ⅱ) (2credits)
Course description:
This course is the second sequential practicum courses in the Community Health Nursing program. Population Based Health planning concepts and issues related to implementation and evaluation of community health nursing services will be introduced and applied. Students will be able to use of the nursing conceptual framework and research for applying strategies planning and implementation to facilitate target group of health in the community. The process promotes student’s understanding of ACPN (Advanced Community Practice Nurse) roles, knowledge and skills, and to promote professionalism and ethical behavior as an individual responsibility of the graduate 。
